Hi, my name is Nicole -

My mom brought me to my first yoga class in 2012, and I’ve been returning to my mat ever since. My yoga practice has and continues to evolve. The through line throughout the years has been a continual uncovering of my own sense of agency, embodiment and choice.

As a facilitator, I offer various forms of yoga (both trauma sensitive and trauma-informed) because I believe when we step onto our mat, we carry our life experiences with us. Those experiences can impact the way we feel, interact with and move our body. My intention is to facilitate yoga for anyone who is interested - creating a space to welcome them and their lived experience.

Trauma-Informed Yoga

Trauma-informed yoga can vary from facilitator to facilitator. For me, it means bringing my trauma training to each class. Trauma is prevalent, and it is uniquely impactful. Those impacts may show up in how someone practices yoga. My class is offered with the hope that it allows for everyone to show up as they are. Additionally, there are no hands-on assists, poses are often cued with invitational language, and you remain the expert of your own experience.


Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)

Using the methodology of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment, Trauma Sensitive Yoga is a movement practice designed to treat complex trauma and chronic PTSD. Learn more here.

What's the difference between trauma-informed and trauma sensitive yoga?

Trauma-informed yoga are classes that are facilitated with an awareness of the frequency and impact of trauma. I teach with the knowledge that most folks have experienced trauma and that trauma may impact how they feel in the their bodies and practice. While trauma informed yoga holds this awareness, it is not designed to treat trauma. Whereas, Trauma Sensitive Yoga is designed to be a clinical intervention for complex trauma and chronic PTSD.
